The compression ratio in a vehicle engine is the measure of how much the air-fuel mixture in a cylinder is compressed during the engine’s operation. It is the ratio of the cylinder’s volume when the piston is at the bottom dead center (BDC) to its volume when it’s at the top dead center (TDC). A higher compression ratio generally leads to improved engine efficiency and performance.
